Last time I was here in Nashville on business I drove a Ford Focus. I'm not here to tell you what a piece of shit a Ford Focus is, but I will say that the radio has some weird-ass features including one that turns up the volume relative to how fast you are driving. I guess this is to account for road noise, and the Focus is noisy, which just gets me back to how I'm not going to tell you what a piece of shit it is.

This time around I'm driving a Chevy Classic, which is a car I didn't even know existed until I was given the keys to one. It feels much more natural than the piece of shit that is the Ford Focus, but it's still nothing special. I wouldn't buy one for myself, but I'm not going to be bothered driving one for a couple weeks. The radio is normal and works fine with my little radio transmitter so I can use my iPod.

If it's not one thing it's another though. I get a decent rental this time around, and barely out a couple hours in it I discover something curious. My rental has a sticker on the window that is not required for registration in some state. It's not a marker that says it belongs to Budget Rentals. It's a yellow ribbon that says "Support Our Troops."

What the fuck? It doesn't even matter if I support our troops or this asinine war. I'm not here to tell you what a piece of shit the President is or to pass judgment on people who are doing what they are told. I just think it's wrong for a rental car to enforce a[n even vaguely] political viewpoint with a bumper sticker.

I did not check a box that said I supported troops when I signed my rental agreement, and I wasn't told that it was Budget's company policy to have their vehicles supporting troops.

I checked to see if it was one of those removable stickers that cling with static electricity but alas, it's rocking real adhesive.
