This past weekend marked my first live show as a member of The Minor Thirds. We played a house party, and after the show I drank far too much and ended up not actually going home until Sunday morning. The show was that much fun. Also, the booze was plentiful and varied, and throughout the night I received several text messages from The Loved One Who Sadly Could Not Attend which made me even happier. I even scored a 45 minute phone conversation with her right after the show and while I took care of my first orange juice and spiced rum.

As is usually the case when I am looking for a job, my motivation comes in spurts and isn't always directed in the most appropriate direction when it arrives. Today's goal is to get the rest of my portfolio beaten into shape so I can send it along with my resume to the many jobs out there just dying to hire me and end my extreme cashflow problems. I've found that I needed to remind myself several times today that it is, in fact, Monday. This is because I spent almost all of yesterday sleeping off the plentiful and varied booze from Saturday.

Portland has decided that it should be hot as fuck today. The current high for the day is listed as 102, and if the internet is to be trusted, it is currently about 90 degrees out there. I realize I've become a total wuss from living on the west coast, and I complain about the heat even though there is no humidity to speak of here, but still... That's hot! So it's not as uncomfortable as hot in New York City or my beloved Nashville, but it's still hot. Yesterday, while sleeping off booze, I couldn't stop my head and neck from feeling clammy even with the fan on full blast in my face, and my apartment stays pretty cool relative to the temperature outside.

The cats are lounging long today, spreading out for maximum cooling. They've both taken to lying in the kitchen and bathroom too. I guess the tile is cooler than the carpet in the other rooms. Fräulein Blau still has most of her belly shaved from when she got fixed, so I guess that's helping her keep cool for now. I feel especially bad for Herr Professor von Tuft, though, as he's a hairy bastard.
