One: I finally fired up the tubes and recorded some stuff that actually touches the analog domain known as "air." I recorded all the guitar parts and the vocals for "What Came Out When I Opened My Mouth." Which brings me to...

Two: One song in the can. I was hoping to get two done today, but I'm happy with one. I got a little later start than I hoped, and I forgot how tiring this stuff can be as well. Also, my studio gets extremely warm with tube amps and other equipment all turned on at the same time. Sadly I can't even open a window during breaks, cause it's been raining balls here all day. Doesn't look like that will change any time soon either.

But hey, one down, eleven to go. Huzzah! (Actually note there may be twelve to go. Over the course of the last couple days I've started to entertain the idea of writing a title track that serves as the "theme" for the whole album or a song about the entire Midwest as a whole instead of any particular state. I am not known for keeping my personal projects manageable.)

Oh, the other thing I did today was hunt down free samples I will be using in the song for Nebraska. That took longer than I'd hoped, but I did find a magnificent thunderstorm that even has loud thunder in the right places without requiring an edit to fit into my song as is. Amazing.

Tonight I'll be doing a rough mix of the finished song and then moving on to other stuff...
