Very early this morning I recorded the acoustic guitar part for "That Night" without actually using an acoustic guitar. Ah, the Roland V-Guitar is a very fun thing! I guess it doesn't necessarily sound perfectly real, but it's pretty damned impressive. It was kind of neat to play a little acoustic folk waltz on a Stratocaster and have it come out sounding like a electric-acoustic Taylor with some nice room reverb and a little delay. This marks the first time some of my more gadgety tools are finally seeing some real use, so that's certainly one great thing to have come out of all this rapidly paced recording.
All that song will need now is the vocals, but I've got the backwards sleep schedule thing at the moment, so I won't really have a chance to do any serious singing until I'm awake at a reasonable hour for long enough to set everything up and do it.
I did some drum programming and sequencing for some of the other incomplete songs today. Also, just as I was going to bed this morning, I had a little inspiration about the as-yet-unwritten song for Wisconsin.
