Today went well even though I woke up to a phone call telling me thanks for interviewing but that the job had been offered to another candidate. Unfortunate, as it did sound like a pretty fun job, but then again I did have my reservations about it. At least now I don't have to worry about whether or not said reservations would challenge my enjoyment of the job. The reason I mention it though is that in the end I was glad I got up a little earlier than planned because it meant I got started on the day's work earlier.

Today I finished recording all the parts for the second completed song, which is North Dakota's "The World Is Flat." Tonight before the day is through I will go back to it and put together the best takes and do a rough mix just like I did with the song I finished yesterday. This one might take longer because the lead guitar part has some tough lixx, and I did a ton of takes with the thing on loop to get it right. So I think I have about 25 guitar takes to wade through to find the few where I nailed it. Vocals and rhythm guitars turned out fine on the first try, so I only did a couple more takes just to make sure I had something to work with in case the first take had some hidden problem I didn't hear on a quick listen.

I do have a song lined up to record tomorrow, so hopefully I can continue this song a day pace for a while. A few of the songs won't require much at all in the way of microphones, so I'm putting those off for the times when it's too late to make noise or when I just need a break.

Before I started recording today, I did have a flash of an idea for what to do with Wisconsin. I don't know if I'll stay excited about it, but it's interesting enough that I've started playing around with it. With any luck one of my experiments will end up as the song for Wisconsin in the near future.

It's only about 6:00 pm, so I may actually reach some more milestones if I can get into it again tonight. If so I'll include it in tomorrow's entry.
