Well, today was a bit of a bust compared to the plans I had made. After all of that sleeping yesterday, I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to sleep at night and that my schedule would continue to be screwy. As it turns out, I did manage to fall asleep at a "normal" hour, but then I woke up a little after two in the morning, finally wide awake. I thought, well, I'll just get up now and start my day early, and I'll be exhausted by the end of the day and my schedule will have come full circle.

I got up, and I made coffee, and I sent out some resumes to new jobs I had found. Once it rolled around to the time my local coffee shop opens, I took a walk and bought a coffee and organized my to-do list which I've let fall into disrepair as I've been spending so much time on NaSoAlMo lately instead of my normal daily activities. I got my list together with all the things I already know I have to do for about the next month, and then I dropped a deposit into the mail to my bank, picked up a prescription and went home where I found an email in my inbox from one of the folks to whom I'd sent a resume that morning.

I exchanged a few emails with the fellow, scheduled an interview for tomorrow, took a phone call from another potential employer and answered a few questions about my resume and experience. By now it was lunchtime, so I ate and then decided schedule-fixing or not, I had to take a short nap before I'd have the energy to do anything else today. I also still had a bit of a headache I was hoping to sleep off. So, I set my alarm to give me three hours to sleep, figuring I'd wake up before then anyway. I went to bed around 12:30, and I finally woke up at 8:00 pm. I vaguely remember being up at 5:00 pm and thinking I should get out of bed, but I don't remember the alarm going off at all.

I can't remember the last time I overslept and was truly pissed off that I'd missed a part of the day that I wanted to be awake for, but today really got to me. I suppose it's because I had just finished making my to-do list. I'm pretty good at making lists that don't have so many things assigned to one day that they doom themselves to failure, but almost every daily list does assume a certain amount of time awake to be completed. Certainly there was enough time between my waking up and when I'll finally go back to bed for me to complete today's list, and that's fine I guess, but that necessarily throws getting myself back on a more normal schedule right out the window.

I suppose you can guess that I decided to stay up and work through the rest of my to-do list even though the day was nearing its close when I got up.

So, after all that I did get to working on the arrangement for one song before midnight rolled around and with it day fourteen. But, you know, since I was up already I just kept working. So the next entry should actually be back on track with some updates on things other than how much sleep I am getting or not getting.
