Today I wrote another song:

  I haven't decided if this song will be an instrumental or if I will finish fleshing out the little bit of lyrics I did write with it. It's a song about getting to work, and it might be described as "riffy."

I should add that I don't usually write many instrumentals. When I write a song and can't come up with lyrics for it, I normally think of it as an unfinished song. An instrumental is a very specific thing to me, and it's not just a song without lyrics in my mind. This song is a weird one in that I feel like it could go either way. I'm not terribly happy with the lyrics I did come up with, but I like the melody and the way it works with the rest of the song. I'm torn between coming up with better lyrics or letting an instrument play that melody, because frankly they both make sense to me for once.

If this song decides to be instrumental (because it insists or because I'm too lazy to make better lyrics... either way) then I will have already written two instrumental songs out of three for the album. I'm starting to like the idea of an album that is more than half instrumentals, but only if it actually "works" as such. Then again, I can't remember the last time I was sure anything I was doing was going to "work" while I was actually doing it.
