I'm glad I didn't turn up the pressure this year, although last year was fun, even on November 30th when I was scrambling to tie up loose ends for everything that hadn't been finished yet.
One of my pet peeves when seeing a live act is when the band or the singer or whatever keeps apologizing about their performance. "Sorry about that. That song is really new. This is the first time I've played it out." I do it myself sometimes, so I know where it comes from, but I still don't like to hear it. More than half the time it's not necessary. Especially with the apologies for playing a new song badly. The audience has never heard the song because it's new. How the hell do they know what it's supposed to sound like when played correctly?
One thing I do when performing to stop myself when I feel the urge to apologize coming on is to apologize for something non sequitur or for something other than messing up or performing badly. Often that makes the audience laugh, and then I feel better anyway whether they noticed I fucked up or not.
Anyhow, this is my last entry in the official 2007 NaSoAlMo diary during the month of November 2007. I will continue with my silly statistics now and then I think as I keep working on this album, but I'll have to come up with some kind of way to indicate that it's no longer really a NaSoAlMo project even if it started as one.
In the meantime, I apologize, in advance, for rocking all of your faces off when this album becomes available and you listen to it.
