7 haiku 3
We sit with coffee,
talk of mowing monkey balls.
This is the true life
I believed riding
a lawn mower was adult
as drinking a beer.
And we talk and laugh,
and it dawns on me that I
never chopped down trees.
Splitting firewood logs.
An impulse to chop things down.
Head to the front yard.
I do not intend
to tell any lies. Only
to hack down this tree.
Still in college, or
maybe on farms in England,
this is Performance.
And we sit and talk,
and it dawns on me that I
can't stop performing.
